Admissions Overview

Admission into St. Augustine’s Seminary is both a spiritual calling and an academic pursuit. Candidates are admitted on the recommendation of their Bishops or Religious Superiors, ensuring that each seminarian enters with proper guidance and discernment.

Beyond spiritual endorsement, applicants must qualify academically for the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy degree programme through the University of Ibadan and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). This dual requirement reflects our mission to form seminarians who are intellectually prepared and spiritually grounded. Admission here is not simply enrollment into a programme — it is the beginning of a transformative journey of faith, discipline, and service to the Church.

Admission Requirements

School certificate (WAEC or NECO or equivalent) with at least 5 credits including English, Mathematics, and Christian Religious Studies in a single sitting, or 6 credits in two sittings. NABTEB is not accepted.

Required subjects include English, Christian Religious Studies, and any two other subjects from Arts, Social Sciences, or Science. Candidates may choose either Biology or Agricultural Science, but not both.

All results must be genuine and not forged.

Certification of reception of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Copies of baptismal cards must be submitted.

Students through Direct Entry should note that UTME forms are not required, and NCE/ND/HND are not accepted for degree admission. Only University Degrees are considered.

For Theology students, transcripts, degree certificates, psychological, medical, pastoral reports, and last seminary reports are required.

B.A. degree seminarians participate in the University of Ibadan matriculation ceremony held on the Seminary premises.

Requests must be formally made to rectorsspp@yahoo.com with authorization from the Bishop or Superior General. Allow two weeks for processing.

Written notice is required for voluntary withdrawal. Involuntary withdrawal occurs only under extraordinary circumstances, approved by the Rector.
